PROJECT: 'COLLAGE-MONTAGE' // CLIENT: ALDEBURGH MUSIC

In collaboration with ALDEBURGH MUSIC, we shot, edited and directed a live classical music concert at the beautiful Snape Maltings Concert Hall in Suffolk.

‘Collage-Montage’ is a free-thinking musical fantasy created by new Festival Artistic Director Pierre-Laurent Aimard. Playing on aspects of unity and conflict, space and silence, and including some of the music closest to Aimard’s heart, this was a chamber music recital like no other. Performed in four parts, the concert mixed contrasting movements from Beethoven and Bartók string quartets with serene, contemplative chamber music by Brahms and Messiaen, and to conclude, a startling ‘scherzo’ and a Hommage to the music of György Ligeti.

The concert was shown on the Aldeburgh Music website as a web-cast to promote the rest of the festival and as such we had just one week to edit the four parts, totalling over 90mins, as well as interviews from Pierre-Laurent and the chief executive of Aldeburgh Music, Jonathan Reekie.
